Inspection and replacement of engine oil and filter for daily maintenance of your carIf you want to challenge yourself for whatever reason, or simply to save money, you want to perform a routine "heart" care for your car - changing the oil, and you happen to have a little basic hands-on ability , then Taizhou Dongna will teach you how to do a complete oil filter replacement for your car in your own backyard in about an hour.What is engine Oil and Filter? Simply put, engine oil is the lubricating fluid of the engine, which prevents the internal parts from wearing each other when the engine is running at high speed, thereby prolonging the service life of the engine. The oil filter is to filter out the impurities inside the engine oil (such as metal particles produced by the internal wear of the engine) to prevent these impurities from damaging the engine.How often to change oil and filter? The lifespan of your engine oil depends on how and how long your car is used. The general recommendation is to change the oil every 3000 miles or so. If you drive frequently in urban areas, you'll need replacement in less than 3,000 miles. If the car is not used frequently, it needs to be replaced with new oil in about a year, even if the mileage is far less than 3000 miles.The most direct way to judge whether the oil needs to be replaced is to check the oil stick: if the oil is soy sauce-colored, the oil needs to be replaced immediately.The replacement time of the oil filter is recommended to be the same as that of the engine oil.Selection of engine oil and engine filter: For the selection of engine oil and engine filter, it is recommended to refer to the user manual of the car, or directly google the engine oil of your own car model year to find the answer given by others. Look at everyone's evaluation and buy it.The choice of oil filter, one can directly buy the same oil filter as the one currently used in the car, or choose a matching third-party oil filter.Oil filter replacement operation:Required tools: Jack, 10mm and 14mm socket wrench, Drain pan, Drain plug gasket, Oil filter wrench, Funnel, rubber gloves.Replacement process: Jack up the front of the car until you can easily put your upper body under the front of the car. Note: It is better to put two jack stands on the support anchor points under the doors on both sides, just in case. Find the Oil Pan and the Drain Plug, put on rubber gloves, and use a 14mm socket wrench to unscrew the drain plug counterclockwise. Below the oil plug. Unscrew the drain plug by hand to begin draining the used oil. During the waste engine oil discharge process, the unscrewed oil drain plug can be wiped clean and checked for severe wear. It is recommended to replace the Drain Plug Gasket on the drain plug. After draining the waste engine oil, first screw back the oil drain plug by hand, and then use a 14mm socket wrench to tighten the oil drain plug clockwise.Note: Do not tighten too tight to avoid slipping the wire or making it difficult to replace it next time. Use a 10mm socket wrench to open the guard plate under the machine filter to find the machine filter. Put the oil filter wrench on the machine filter, turn it counterclockwise, put the oil drain pan directly under the machine filter, and then completely unscrew the machine filter by hand. Remove the oil drain pan from the bottom of the vehicle after no more waste oil flows out. The replaced waste engine oil has the color of soy sauce and can no longer be used. We will put it aside and deal with it last. Take out the new machine filter and engine oil, dip some oil with your hands and apply it on the rubber ring of the machine filter, which can improve the sealing effect of the rubber ring and prevent oil leakage. Screw the new machine filter clockwise on the machine filter installation by hand until it cannot be screwed in by hand, and then tighten it half a turn clockwise with an oil filter wrench.Note: Do not tighten too tightly, otherwise it will be difficult to replace next time. Then it's relatively simple to add oil. First we open the hood and find the oil stick and oil cap. Unscrew the oil cap, put in the funnel, and pour new oil into the oil tank. After the engine oil is completely poured in, pull out the oil stick, wipe it clean with paper, insert it back, pull it out again, and check the oil level. Under normal circumstances, the clean engine oil should be close to the H position, indicating that the engine oil is close to being full, but not excessive. Note: In order to avoid excessive oil, it is recommended to check the oil frequently during the process of adding oil. If there is too much oil, it can also damage the engine!Finally, insert the oil stick back in, screw on the oil cap, and put the engine cover back on. Funnel the used oil into an empty new oil can and take it to your nearest auto parts store for recycling. Throw used gloves and paper in the hazardous waste bin. In the next few days, it is necessary to frequently check the oil level with an oil stick, and observe whether there are unusual oil stains under the car.
